Did you know that wrinkles around the eyes are the first sign of ageing?
Procedure of Botox injecting lasts for couple of minutes, it is relatively painless, and result is visible after 5 to 7 days. Treatment can be done numerous times, but it is needed to keep an eye on time spam between procedure proposed by the doctor. Side effects of Botox treatments are rare.
The delicate skin around the eyes is a part of our face showing first signs of ageing. There is a saying how eyes are mirroring soul and almost first thing we notice in people is their eyes. They can tell a lot, including age of the person. First signs of ageing are skin dryness, small wrinkles and inelasticity of the skin, especially lower eyelids. With time, wrinkles around the outer corners of the eyes, so-called "laugh lines", are starting to appear. Skin is losing elasticity, creating an impression of loose skin on upper and lower eyelids.

The skin around the eye is thinnest and most sensitive on the whole body. It consists of a small number of sebaceous glands, collagenous fibres and elastin. Eye skin is affected by 22 muscles in constant movement, as well as 10 000 blinks daily. That is the reason why first signs of ageing appear on the surface around the eye. Excessive exposure to the sun contributes to accelerated ageing.

It is thanks to technological achievements why today we have many surgical and non-surgical methods to restore the fresh and youthful appearance of the eye area. The most famous anti-wrinkle treatment for the eye area is Botox. Botox or botulinum A toxin is a substance synthesized from Clostridium botulinum bacteria. A toxin is purified and injected into facial muscles, causing temporary muscle paralysis by blocking the nerves transmission of the pulse thus leading to a smoother surface of the skin. The paralysis lasts for 3-6 months, and after that, the muscle returns to its original state, so the wrinkles also return. But if the procedure is carried out regularly, younger people (up to 40 years) can benefit with permanent disappearance of the wrinkles because the skin is regenerated on a smooth background and thus the wrinkle itself disappears.

It may lead up to mild hematoma, swelling, redness, temporary weakness of surrounding muscles, relaxation of the skin around it. However, all side effects are temporary. Botox injections mustn’t be used in the event of an allergy to any of the ingredients of the medicine and in case of infection on the application area.

Botox treatment is one of the most effective and most popular aesthetic treatments for wrinkles removal. The treatment was approved in 2002 by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), which controls the quality and safety of food and medicine. Since then, Botox's popularity has grown bigger.
