The 14th CSCRS Congress "New trends in ophthalmology".
The 14th CSCRS Congress "New Trends in Ophthalmology" held on September 29th showcased the latest achievements and knowledge in ophthalmology with special emphasis on cataract surgery, refractive surgery and treatment of retinal diseases.
The keynote speech was given by one of today's greatest ophthalmologists, Professor Lucio Burratto, a pioneer of refractive surgery, and the creator of modern ophthalmology. In recognition of his immeasurable contribution to the development of a profession, he was given the Lifetime Achievement Award.
"I wanted to see Gabrić's clinic because he is the leading surgeon in Europe. I strongly believe that the time to learn never ends, and I see the future here" said Professor Buratto, PhD.
Key opinion leaders from all over the Globe were at the CSCRS Congress: Sheraz M. Daya, MD one of the leading ophthalmologists in the United Kingdom, the first person to perform the LASIK procedure in the UK; Professor Paul Hahn prominent retina specialist in the world from the USA, a leading expert in pathology and new treatments for retinal diseases; Professor Emilio Torres-Neto - an impeccable expert on keratoconus and advanced methods of treatment of this disease, one of the key people in the K-map project, which researches the prevalence of keratoconus in young people in more than 160 countries in the world; Dimitrios Kyroudis, MD co-owners of the Pallas chain of clinics in Switzerland, an expert in the use of lasers in the treatment of corneal scars; Victor Derhartunian, MD – one of the prime surgeons of the 3rd generation of laser dioptre removal, as well as other top doctors from all over the world.
In addition to lectures 'Live Surgery' with 11 demanding operations was presented, sharing know-how, explaining surgical techniques and the technology and open discussion.
Practical training (Wet Lab) was organized for the first time in the region, with lenticular laser surgery - the third generation of laser dioptre removal, PHACO Wet Lab and LipiFlow.
