At the 50th Congress of Polish Ophthalmology Society held in Warsaw in June of 2019, Professor Iva Dekaris, PhD and Ante Barišić, MD participated as lecturers. Professor Iva Dekaris, PhD, Medical Director of the Special Hospital for Ophthalmology Svjetlost, has delivered a lecture about cataract surgery for the patients who have corneal diseases under ESCRS Academy. ESCRS (European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons) is the main European ophthalmology organization for cataract and refractive surgery. At the Academy, lectures are held during the congresses in Europe given solely by the prime professors and experts who are invited to present the highest and newest achievements in surgery for anterior eye segment. Professor Dekaris, PhD has presented cataract surgery possibilities for patients who besides cataract have corneal diseases. For such patients, there is a higher risk of complications in regards to cornea therefore, caution and special care is needed.
Ante Barišić, MD, Head of the Department of the Cataract at the Svjetlost Eye Clinic, was invited lecturer at the symposium where he held 30 minutes lectures explaining studies and experience at the Svjetlost where the newest intraocular lens Technic Eyhance (J&J Vision) are implanted when removing a cataract. Svjetlost Eye Clinic was one of the first clinics in Europe implanting this lens and Ante Barišić, MD has shown great results given along with patients satisfaction after the surgery.
Tecnis Eyhance provides good distance vision and good and middle vision (computer, control panel at the car and so on). Yet, patients will need to wear glasses when reading.
