Do you have a clinic in Rijeka?

No, but in addition to Zagreb, where our main facility is located, you can have your examinations with leading specialists in Split, Sarajevo, and Budva.

Which tram can you take to Svjetlost Eye Clinic?

You can reach Svjetlost Eye Clinic by trams 1, 9, and 17. Please get off at the Heinzelova station, which is a few minutes’ walk from the clinic.

Do you have an emergency phone line?

If you have called outside business hours and have an emergency, please stay on the line so we can provide you with timely medical assistance.
Emergencies include sudden vision loss and eye injury.

Working hours and appointments

What are the working hours of Svjetlost Eye Clinic and are you open on weekends?

Svjetlost Eye Clinic in Zagreb is open Monday through Thursday from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM, and Friday from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM. The clinic is closed on weekends and holidays.

Can I come without an appointment?

Appointments are required so we can secure your time slot and dedicate sufficient time to each patient. Please schedule your appointment in advance by phone, email, or online form.

May I arrive earlier, several hours before my appointment?

Please arrive precisely at your scheduled time, as all appointments are pre-booked. Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate earlier arrivals due to our fully booked schedule.

What if I'm late for my appointment? Will you be able to see me or should I come another time?

If you are running late, please kindly notify us. You will be examined, but you may need to wait briefly upon arrival.

May I contact you if I reconsider my appointment?

Certainly, please notify us in advance if you are unable to attend.

How long is the wait for an examination and for a surgical procedure?

Waiting time depends on appointment availability and the type of procedure. An examination can usually be scheduled within a short timeframe, while surgery may require a wait from several hours to several weeks. If the lens is already available at the Clinic, the wait is short. If the lens needs to be ordered, it is ordered first, and we will contact you once it arrives.

Examination and preparation

Do you accept referrals from the Croatian Health Insurance Fund (HZZO)?

Svjetlost Eye Clinic is a private clinic and we do not perform examinations and procedures with HZZO referrals. Examinations are conducted privately by appointment.

Is a health insurance card required for the examination?

A health insurance card is not required for the examination.

Do you perform examinations such as CT scans, ultrasounds, or color vision tests (anomaloscopy)?

At Svjetlost Eye Clinic, ocular ultrasound is used as part of ophthalmological diagnostics. Svjetlost Eye Clinic specializes in ophthalmology and does not perform CT scans, general ultrasounds, or color vision tests (anomaloscopy).

Is the examination painful?

No, the examination is completely painless.

Can I drive after the examination?

Since your pupils will be dilated during the examination, it is not recommended that you drive after the examination, as your vision will be slightly blurred. Therefore, it would be advisable to use public transportation.

Can I wait at your facility until my vision clears?

Our clinic has a waiting room on the ground floor where you can wait until your vision clears.

Should I bring previous medical records?

If you have previous medical records, you may bring them for your examination.

May I come accompanied?

Yes, an escort is welcome. During the examination, your pupils will be dilated, which may cause temporary blurred vision. Therefore, it is advisable to come accompanied.

Can I bring my pet dog?

Pets are not allowed inside. As an exception, service guide dogs accompanying persons with disabilities are permitted, in accordance with applicable regulations.

Can I come to the examination with makeup or false eyelashes?

You can come to the examination with makeup and false eyelashes, but it is recommended to come without eye makeup.

Can I come just for an opinion without an examination?

A professional opinion requires an examination so we can provide accurate information.

I have an 8-month-old child. Do you perform examinations on infants?

A child is never too young for an ophthalmological examination; quite the opposite. While vision is developing, disorders can and must be treated to ensure the normal development of a child’s eye and vision.

I would like to schedule an examination, but I am unsure if I should undergo vision correction?

The decision to undergo vision correction is your personal choice. If you wear glasses or contact lenses, you are welcome to come for an examination so that we can assess your condition and recommend the best solution.

Price and payment

Does the examination price apply to one or both eyes?

The examination price applies to both eyes, while surgical procedures are charged per eye.

When do I pay, before or after the examination or procedure?

Payment is made after the examination or procedure has been completed, or earlier upon quotation.

What are the payment methods?

Payment is possible in cash or by card (all types, single payment). Installment payment is available for amounts over €130: up to 12 interest-free installments for Zagrebačka banka, PBZ, and Erste bank cards, and for Diners cards up to 12 or 24 installments depending on the amount. International patients cannot pay by card in installments. Note: procedure prices are per eye, and discounts are not cumulative.

Do you work with insurance companies?

We work with many insurance companies including Croatia, Uniqa, Triglav, Grawe, Wiener, and Allianz.

Parking and arrival

Do you have parking, and can I park in a garage?

Svjetlost Eye Clinic offers free parking for all its patients. The parking is open-air, not a garage, but it is always available.

How to access the parking?

Access to the parking lot is available directly from Heinzelova Street, to the right of the Clinic’s main entrance, through the passage with a ramp.

What if the barrier is down?

There is a security guard at the entrance to the Clinic who will raise the barrier if it is down.

I arrived by bicycle; where can I park it?

Bicycle parking is available in front of the clinic.

Is the clinic accessible to persons with disabilities and open to all patients?

Yes, the clinic is accessible to persons with disabilities, and we can provide wheelchairs for patients if needed. All patients are welcome and treated with respect, including LGBTQ+ individuals. For our youngest patients, we also have a children’s corner.

Do you have an elevator?

Yes, at Svjetlost Eye Clinic, we have both an elevator and stairs.

Surgery and recovery

How long is the clinic stay after surgery?

On the day of surgery, you will stay in the clinic for 2 to 3 hours before returning home. A mandatory follow-up visit is required the next morning.

Do you offer accommodation at Svjetlost Eye Clinic?

At Svjetlost Eye Clinic, we do not offer accommodation services, but we can provide you with a recommendation.

Do I need to wear sunglasses constantly after surgery, including at home?

Sunglasses do not need to be worn at home. It is recommended to wear them in daylight and when going home after surgery.

My dog has cataracts - can you operate on him?

No. Although we would gladly help, we do not operate on animals.
