Sharing knowledge from Svjetlost Eye Clinic with the world

Thessaloniki, Greece – Dr. Ante Barišić, Head of the Cataract Department at Svjetlost Eye Clinic, participated as a speaker at a symposium in Thessaloniki held as part of the 51st National Congress of the Hellenic Ophthalmological Society. Entitled “State of the Art in Presbyopia Treatment,” the symposium brought together leading ophthalmology experts from around the world specializing in the treatment of presbyopia.

Dr. Barišić delivered a lecture entitled “Cataract Surgery and Refractive Lens Exchange with Implantation of an Extended-Depth-of-Focus Lens.” The presentation drew on the extensive experience of Svjetlost surgeons, who, led by Prof. Nikica Gabrić, PhD, were the first in Croatia and among the few in Europe to begin implanting Symfony extended-depth-of-focus intraocular lenses, enabling patients to achieve good vision at all distances without the need for glasses.

Dr. Barišić noted that an increasing number of patients with presbyopia are opting for this procedure to improve their quality of life and avoid wearing glasses. He highlighted that more than 6,000 multifocal lens implantation procedures have been successfully performed at Svjetlost.

He shared the surgical expertise and experience gained at Svjetlost with colleagues from around the world, including the clinic’s experience with the latest technologies used in ophthalmic surgery.
