Dr. sc. Maja Bohač and dr. Alma Bišćević as invited speakers held talks at the conference of the company Schwind held in the capital of Peru.
Lima (Peru), 6th-8th August 2017 - Dr. sc. Maja Bohač, Head of the Refractive Surgery Department in the Svjetlost Clinic and dr. Alma Bišćević, refractive surgeon from the Svjetlost Clinic Sarajevo, as invited speakers, held their talks at the conference of the company Schwind held in the capital of Peru.

Svjetlost Clinic has been using diagnostics and laser surgery equipment for a number of years to treat diopter. This congress was visited by more than 140 professionals from 40 different countries of the world where this particular technology is being used. The talks, round tables and workshops gave an opportunity to exchange clinical experiences and get to know more about the novelties that this company is introducing. 

Dr. sc. Maja Bohač gave a talk entitled ‘Correction of medium to high range astigmatism with femtosecond laser and Schwind Amaris laser’. Dr. Bišćević held a talk entitled ‘Eye aberations of higher degree and topographic changes in the form and curving of intra-retinal layers after a rutine control of the aberrations using the LASIK method’.

The German company Schwind is specialized in the production of devices for refractive and therapeutic surgery of retina. It is present in 125 countries of the world and more than 1500 of lasers are used in the world’s best eye centers, including Svjetlost Clinic. In the last ten years, which is the time frame since Schwind lasers of the ‘Amaris’ generation have entered the market, over 3 million laser diopter correction operations have been performed. Half of the patients have been operated using the method femtolasik (with a constant growth trend), 21% with the LASIK mikrokeratom method, 17% with Trans - PRK method and 10% with PRK method. Over 200 scientific papers have been published about the application of this laser technology for diopter correction.
