Deputy Head of the Department of Retina of the clinic Svjetlost
Doctor Vesna Cerović graduated from the Faculty of medicine at the University of Belgrade in 2000. Mandatory internship and specialization in ophthalmology she completed in 2005 at the Military Medical Academy in Belgrade. She is one of the founders of refractive surgery (laser vision correction) in the Military Medical Academy.
She continued her studies in the field of refractive eye surgery in the clinic Svjetlost in Zagreb and in the clinic Morela in Ljubljana in 2007. That same year, she attended the advanced course of cataract surgery at the University Hospital Vinohradský in Prague. She attended the training on macular surgery in 2011 at Instituto de microcirurgia ocular in Barcelona. Since 2012, she works at the clinic Svjetlost in Zagreb.
Doctor Cerović is specialized in surgeries of the anterior ocular segment, cataract surgery with implantation of standard and premium IOLs, ICL implantation, Verisysee and Veriflex phakic lens, secondary implantation and scleral fixation lens.
Doctor Cerović performed surgeries of the posterior ocular segment - microincision vitrectomy (23 and 25 gauge). In addition, she performs conventional surgeries of retinal detachment. She also has experience in treating eye trauma and she performs combined surgeries of the anterior and posterior ocular segment. She is also specialized in medical retina and inflammatory diseases of the eye. So far, she performed more than a thousand of combined anterior-posterior segment surgeries (vitrectomy) and more than 10 000 cataract surgeries.
The introduction of new methods
At the Military Medical Academy in Belgrade, Doctor Cerović in 2007 established the Department of Refractive Surgery and first began to perform surgeries of laser vision correction. Also, she was among the first doctors in 2007 that began with 25 gauge macular surgeries in the Military Medical Academy.
Publications and research
She published a dozen of papers in the area of the anterior and posterior ocular segment in scientific and professional publications. She actively participates in the ophthalmological regional and world congresses and meetings.
Membership in associations
Member of the European Vitreoretinal Society (EVRS) and the Croatian Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (CSCRS).
